Skipjacks are the last of American sailing work boats. They are used to dredge oysters in the Chesapeake Bay. One large gaff rigged mainsail and two jibs make up the sails of these sturdy vessels. Salty individuals who take oysters from the Chesapeake Bay with these boats call themselves "watermen".
